My Work

I think that all of these rose experiments look great and they were really successful. In some of them, I could have included more smoke but I think for the most part more smoke was not needed. To make these pieces I used a Palo Santo stick and burned it for a minute then blew it out to create a good amount of smoke, I then held it under the flowers to create the Smokey effect.

I also think these were successful. For these pieces, I wanted to play with the lighting and make it darker but not so dark that the flowers and the smoke were not visible. These pieces could have done with more smoke as I think it makes them look more simple, but I still think that they look nice.

I think that all of my milk bath experiments were successful. I believe that the experiments with the leaves were the most successful due to them standing out in the water and not getting soggy and floppy as the flowers did. I also really liked the experiments where I combined the flowers and the leaves together as they look full and colourful. I further added to my experiments by taking more milk bath images with lilies. These worked better than than the others as they have waxy petals that are waterproof and will thus not go soggy. Furthermore, I think that due to these lilies being a bright colour they work better as the colour is still slightly altered below making it look as though they are in a thick fog.

Next, I tried doing some digital edits. Some digital edits I did were similar to his with the blurring effect. I then decided to try some different things like inverting images and playing around with the colours and I think these were successful.

selection tool, cop, paste, free transform, hue/saturation

- First I used the selection tool to select the background to make it darker.

- I then made it darker using  brightness / contrast

- I then duplicated the layer and moved it to create a blurry double exposure effect.
