My Work

I really love how this piece came out. All the flowers are detailed and visible. However, the sides are un-neat due to the walls built around them being messy and not neat. Thus, if I was to do this again I would make the walls neater. Other than the edges not being neat I think this was a successful piece.

I tried an experiment using wax to create a cast instead of plaster. I like how this experiment came out however, it is harder to see the detail in the cast. Also, when I was taking the cast off a piece of the clay got stuck to the wax resulting in a section of it looking a bit messy. However, other than that I think that this was a successful way to further my experiments for Rachel Dien.

I think this piece was very successful. The flower I used worked really well for casting as each petal is visible and spread out, and overall it looks very pretty. I do think that the sides could be “cleaner” and you can also see the lines around the inside where the clay walls I added to make sure the plaster doesn’t leak were joined together.

I think that this piece was successful to an extent. I think that the flower I used worked really well in this piece and it is really detailed. However, the leaves started off detailed but the top of the leaves are quite hard to see and are not that detailed. Also when the plaster was poured in it started leaking through the clay walls, resulting in it being uneven in the top left corner.

I think that this was a very successful experiment due to all the pieces working together and being detailed. Although the sides are slightly uneven and it is slanted upwards where the leaves are due to them not having to be pressed down as hard.
I think that this was mostly successful. This is because the rose is detailed and the petals are kind of spread out adding to the detail. However, when the plaster was being poured in it leaked out of the walls but it is not noticeable in this piece.

I do not think that this experiment was successful. The first reason for this is because of the flower that i used, I don't think that roses work well for casting as they are less detailed than other flowers and just end up looking like a lump. I also do not think that i pressed the leaf down hard enough as you can only just make out the outline of the leaf not any of the detail within it. Also the clay was not level at the top resulting in it leaning downwards. However, I do like how the circle layout looks and I would use it again.

I really like this piece and I think it was very successful. The only thing I do not like about this experiment is how messy the edges are around the circle. However, I think both flowers worked well together and both flowers are very detailed as you can see every bit of each petal and the stem and I think this is one of my most successful pieces.

I really like how this piece turned out and I think that the leaves used with the stem of a flower worked well to give a tree branch effect. To improve, I could make sure that the leaves don't rip as one did in this experiment. Although, I think that it gives the piece more authenticity as leaves can be naturally found ripped. I believe that I pressed the leaves into the plaster hard enough so that the leaves and the stem are detailed.

I do not think that this was a successful experiment. I do think that the flower on the left did work well in this piece but the other flowers did not look good. The section in the middle does not resemble flowers as the only very visible bit that resembles flowers is the stem the petals are hardly visible, this is most likely due to me not pressing them down hard enough and the flower in the middle was a tulip, which just fell apart when i rolled over it, so going further in my work i know not to use tulips. Also, overall i do not think the flowers go together and I should have added more in the gaps to make it look more “full”.
I think that this piece was quite successful. This is because every plant I rolled down is visible and detailed and they all work together to create nice looking piece. However, it does look quite messy due to clay being stuck on and surrounding the thinner flowers, and there being chunks around the edges, this was due to the clay wall that i had built around it to put the plaster in as it had leaned in, in that section.
